Not sure if people have heard of this but Cal-Earth is a collective if builders and designers using earth as a material, and biomimicry as the inspiration for form making. Creating domes, vaults and globes, where there was otherwise pitched roofs, creating unnatural and unnecessary forces within the post and beam system.
In terms of Space making, founder Nadar Kalili takes inspiration from spider webs, sea shells and features of mechanical erosion. Each time pointing to the fact that nature manages to create maximum space with minimum material.
